New server

#1
z0r is now running on a new server. The migration is already nearly complete, only a couple of small things still have to be moved. Also loop upload on the new server is still not functional because of some weird problem im currently investigating.
The new server should be much more powerfull than the 2 old servers combined and really help reducing lag during peak times.

Some information on the servers:
Odin (new server): i7-4770 4x3.9ghz, 32gb ram, 2x240gb (raid1) ssd, 1gbit network
Raz (since july 2008): celeron 220 1x1.2ghz, 512mb ram, 250gb ide, 100mbit
Dva (since aug. 2010): core2duo 2x2.33ghz, 2gb ram, 2x500gb ide, 100mbit

Raz and Dva will probably be retired when everything works as intended with the new server.

Sounds really nice Smile could it be, that bigger loops could be possible after you made the turn?

Bigger loops is not only about the server, i also fear that it will slow down loading of the pages on slower internet connections.
I want the z0r experience to be as smooth as possible Smile

I don't know if it makes a big difference but you could use the Apache modules 'mod_headers' and 'mod_expires' in addition. You may be able to let the visitor's browser cache the loops but also the includes (scripts, css) at z0r.de. This causes a faster page load if the visitor is using the page periodically. For example you could simply add a "Cache-Control" header to the respond headers when someone requests these files by writing a few code lines into your page's .htaccess. Wink
